M.J.Vail Company History Michael J. Vail Sr. and his son Rick outside the company's first store front in 1963 The M. J. Vail Company was started in 1947 by Michael J. Vail Sr. A hard working family man, he brought the qualities of fairness, honesty and reliability to his company. With the help of his wife, Marie, and sister, Rose, the company laid down its roots in the small town of Maplewood N.J. In 1979, his son Frederick, (better known as Rick) joined the company after college and took on the dream to be his own. Carrying on his father's dedication to his customers, the M. J. Vail Company continued to serve the industrial community. As the company expanded over the years, more family members joined the staff. Throughout this growth, reliability and personalized service have always remained a trademark of the company.
